Beverly Harmon owns and operates Descendants Advocacy & Home Care Agency.  Advocating for her mother, witnessed the complexities of the healthcare industry.  She encountered the system's bureaucracy, inequity, inequality, and disparity. 

Her mother faces multiple health challenges—a Hemorrhagic stroke, Cognitive impairments, communication, Aphasia, Apraxia, right-side paralysis, bed-bound, and seizures.  After several years 2nd and 3rd strokes, she lost mobility, is bedridden with a gastronomy tube, has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and has continuous oxygen.   

With a daughter's love, resilience, determination, and absolutely no nursing facility, her mother was to age in the comfort of her home, have equitable and high-quality care, and retain her dignity and independance.   Beverly fearlessly overcame obstacles with love, conviction, and compassion.  She prevailed over barriers within the health and home care industries for equitable care.   Beverly became her mother's caregiver.  She took the necessary action to ensure adequately trained and continual education.  Beverly selflessly altered her life and career to provide high-quality in-home care.  

In caring for a loved one, she realized her passion for caring for others, especially those without a voice or inability to help themselves.  In this journey, Beverly realized the most vulnerable population, older, disabled, and persons of lower educational and economic status, are not given the same opportunity to age in-home; created Descendants Advocacy & Home Care to be a voice, support, resource, and affordable care to families and their loved ones whom otherwise would not have the option to age in-home.
